Pros

Rewarding work. Good work/life balance. Good pay versus cost of living. Management is willing to work with you on work schedule when needed. Opportunity to grow skills in a niche but highly sought after industry. Coworkers and management seem to care about each other (family oriented). Great mentorship with experienced engineers. Stable company (more than 30 years in business).

Cons

Sometimes the direction of company seems unclear.

Pros

Did you barely graduate from a state university with C's and D's? Are you an alcoholic or drug abuser? Do you want to show up for work whenever you want with impunity? VPT is your workplace, and you will have plenty of like-minded co-workers to waste away your days...as long as you're willing to work SUPER CHEAP.

Cons

Intelligence, experience, wisdom and hard work will not be rewarded at VPT. In fact, these traits are actively discouraged. They may try to suck you in with teaser salary, but you will be nickel and dimed thereafter. Even worse, VPT's work environment is toxic and hostile to hard workers; 30 years of natural selection has nurtured a collection of jealous misfits who will make your life miserable. VPT is managed (not OWNED) by a classic Platonic philosopher-king; all great ideas flow from his infallible mind and don't you doubt it for second (the mid-level managers will not speak up for you, even if they agree with you). The company's history is littered with intelligent, competent engineers who were summarily terminated, banished offsite, or quit is disgust, The worst sin you can commit at VPT is disagree with the philosopher-king, and later have reality prove you correct. His outsized ego craves incompetent subordinates so he can feel superior. The most successful sub-managers at VPT are passive ex-military types with the words, "Yes sir, and by your leave sir" on their lips at all times.
