Pros

+ Great HR support. + Decent benefits. + Potentially nice colleagues. + Potential for career growth if you are self-determinated, manage to learn or have right skills for the task and can handle the varying stress with deadlines. + Some people might enjoy of the numerous company events.

Cons

- Scattered teams on projects, yet working locally is encouraged vs remote. - Very noisy and distractive office. But some might like it that way. - Bureaucracy keeps increasing as company grows. - Some previously nice benefits have been taken off during the years. - High personnel turnover, difficulties in resourcing. - Concerns how company's direction will be handled due to new major stakeholder.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! It is always nice to hear positive feedback, and as an HR team member, happy to hear good comments about HR. :) We are doing our best to our employees succeed and feel good working here at Valamis. During the past 10 years, we had to let one benefit go because this benefit had become Joensuu-centric, was not equitable, and did not support either the employee’s wellbeing or the business. Luckily, we have been able to add many benefits instead of that one. We are a global organization with employees around the world. From our perspective there are also a lot of positive sides to “non-local teams”: it creates diverse company culture, offers a possibility for better productivity when international teams working in various time zones are available for our customers around the world. It creates better cultural understanding as well. According to our remote work policy, employees are allowed to work remotely 4 days per week, 1 day at the office is recommended. We believe that a flexible hybrid policy leads to better employee well-being and business results. Our head office spaces are mainly organized by open office style, but luckily there are separate “quiet spaces” for the employees who like to have some privacy and silent space. As a company, we try to avoid unnecessary bureaucracy, but the truth is, that when the company grows, it is necessary to implement some guidelines to manage things. Usually, we hate bureaucracy as well. During the past year (2021), Great Resignation hit us as well, it is the truth. Our staff turnover rate was 17,4 % (industry average before Covid and Great Resignation was 17%). Luckily during the ongoing year, the rate is a lot lower, after first quartal it is 2,4 % . We do our best to make our employees happy, well and committed!

Pros

+Autonomy + International teammates + Flexible work + Access to leadership

Cons

- No vision from the beginning of company history - No leadership experience from senior leadership before Valamis - Lots of turnover under the radar along with many layoffs: 3-4 CFOs in 3 years, 2 CPOs/CVOs, CCOs, multiple sales, marketing, support leaders - Product 😅 - Highly political - Culture of dishonesty - Disorganized

Pros

+ The colleagues are great, there's no room for big egos in the company. + Opportunity to work with big international customers. + Possibility to get lots of responsibility. + Good work-life balance, flexibility & low hierarchy (typical in many Nordic IT companies).

Cons

- Valamis is a product company / consultancy hybrid so it's not "all in" in either. - Internal bureaucracy has grown lately. - Challenges with resourcing and workloads don't spread evenly. - The top management doesn't strive for high-quality.
