The adjectives that come to mind when I think of Vendini are sloppy, messy, and manipulative. The code for the product is 15 year old PHP and no longer remotely scalable; the CEO wrote it himself and chooses not to acknowledge that it needs to be scrapped, instead adding flashy features that either don't work or break its core necessary features. The list of bugs is hundreds of items long, and regarded internally as standard practice for a SaaS product. Based on my experience at other companies, I know this is an anomaly. The management team is messy in structure and manipulative in behavior. There is no VP of Sales, the deliverables instead passed over to the marketing department. There is no one there with a sales background or an interest in learning about sales. Instead, marketing found it appropriate to raise quotas by 45% in a year, despite shrinking territories, no changes in the market to warrant it, and a deteriorating product. Each territory carries the same quota, despite discrepancies in the market on a geographical level as well as a vast difference in inbound leads per state. Perhaps management could spend less on party buses and lava lamps, thusly lessening the desperation to restock the company coffered. Seeing how the management manipulates its current employees is awful. Because they refuse to take responsibility for the state of the company, they push everything back onto their employees and try to inspire more activity by making them feel incompetent. Playing team members against each other and gossiping behind closed doors isn't a strongly recommended management tactic. It wasn't always like this so it's sad to see but I honestly feel like I dodged a bullet by leaving and guilty about any customers I may have recommended during my tenure.
