I spent just over two years at VergeSense, and as mentioned by some others, the founders are pretty clueless. They developed a great product (despite issues that really upset some pretty major clients early on), but if you asked either of them to name 5 people in the organization that don't report directly to them, they'd struggle to name even one. That's a pretty glaring issue when you consider that there are only like 120 employees left. When the CEO has no idea what's going on because he spends half the year in Turkey, it fosters an environment of toxic office politics, backstabbing, and manipulation. It leads to an unqualified CRO at a pretty crucial point in the path to profitability, or a VP of product who refuses to take any insight or feedback regarding the product that every client is complaining about. What it doesn't lead to is the behemoth IPO that they still seem to be fantasizing about for some reason? Smart money at this point is on a lackluster acquisition and disappointed investors.
