Pros

1. Some of the people who work here are truly amazing, but with mass layoffs and exits, these are now dwindling, and top talent is not choosing to stick around 2. Work is meaningful and projects are great resume builders 3. The product is great 4. Flexible health benefits and RRSP matching

Cons

1. The leadership team lacks diversity and as a result ‘tech-bro’ culture has resurfaced since the senior leadership re-org 2. After enduring more than a year of constant quarterly layoffs, the company then laid off ~20% of the entire staff, weeks before the Christmas holidays, where the majority of these employees were completely blindsided 3. The company does not backfill roles and you will likely be doing the workload of 3-4 roles with the pressure of ever-increasing targets 4. The company conducted a “title standardization” where many roles were given a much-deserved promotion with no true recognition, or pay raise 5. The company is now rehiring for similar roles that had previously been laid off less than 6 months ago, due to "economic circumstances" 6. Strategic focus changes every quarter with last-minute communication

Pros

1. They have done a remarkable job to promote the culture of having fewer meetings. It aligns to the work they’re doing too and helps promote a better work life balance. 2. It used to be a really nice place to work at some point in time before COVID so at least there's a glorious history

Cons

1. Aggressive leadership that lacks empathy, company lacks it in their values. 2. Lack of empathy is something systemic and is not just within the leadership but also their subordinates. I remember once an employee was let go after 3 yrs of service and I asked my newly promoted lead about the reason. He said with giggles that the person was let go because some people believed that he didn’t take a shower for days. This was when the entire company was working from home during covid. The same employee landed a much senior role elsewhere. 3. Directed peer review feedback and PIPs are misused to retaliate against someone and there’s no company policy to prevent this. 4. Getting no raise in a year is very common 5. Executives don’t seem involved much with what the leadership does 6. Serious diversity issues and a place for extrovert survival.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Feedback from our employees allows us to continually improve. As we care deeply about the experience of our employees, we are disappointed to hear about your experience. You mentioned empathy, and we agree with the importance of empathy too, especially in these years of unrelentingly uncertain times. Our Talent team facilitates monthly workshops for our people leaders to coach on topics like leading with empathy, supporting teams through uncertain times and developing employees, just to name a few. We want our employees to feel supported and we feel through our committed and caring leadership team we are working to achieve that. We will review the incident you mentioned to ensure all employees and matters pertaining to employees are treated confidentiality, fairly, with kindness and compassion. Compensation at Vidyard is reviewed annually to ensure we offer compensation competitive in the markets we operate in. Annual increases are based on market changes and rewarding individual performance. The Executive team collaborates with Senior Leadership to set a transparent strategy map each fiscal along with quarterly objectives and key results and empower the various teams with the autonomy to accomplish their goals. We hope that provides some clarity on how the Executive team is involved. You also mentioned the involvement of Executives in interviews. For some teams/hires the CTO or CEO is the final interviewer and adds high level vision and input as well answers candidate questions. For our existing employees, we do connect with them prior to their exit to gain their valuable insights into the employee experience. We are sorry to hear your feedback about diversity and belonging. We continue to learn and push forward to ensure all our practices, including employee socials are thoughtfully created to ensure an inclusive experience for all. We're sorry we let you down, and we appreciate that you took the time to leave us a review. The Vidyard Talent Team

Pros

At first, this place was getting a lot of buzz. It had a lot of media attention and lots of articles written about the company. It seemed like a success story and like it had all of the momentum in the world, until it all started to unravel. They had (not sure if they still do) onsite catered food and some cool perks.

Cons

This place is a management disaster! There's no sugar coating it! Don't believe me? Just track the CONSTANT churn of high level executives and mid-level managers (not to mention all of the churn of individual contributors) and they all reveal a tale of serious ineptitude that permeates throughout this company. -The CEO loves to be in the spotlight but has no idea how to properly run a business. He's constantly changing his mind on the simplest of decisions and he can never justify his decisions to staff. -The CTO loves to bring in personal friends who have no idea what they are doing. It's a level of incompetence worthy of a TV comedy! You've never experienced epic frustration until you've worked with the CTO and the friends he brings in. -There's a level of technical debt that is shocking for such a young company. You almost have to go out of your way to design and implement a tech stack as bad as they have at Vidyard. And they NEVER take the time to even remotely address the growing technical debt which as Developer means you're constantly building on top of an unstable platform. -Very smarmy and condescending upper management. They never listen to your genuine concerns and they have attitudes that are entirely unbecoming of a professional organization. -I swear the CEO only works 50% of the year. How does he have so much vacation time?
