Corporate disaster

Pros

The doctors and the staff at the local level are absolutely amazing. I had the privilege to work with fantastic coworkers and I truly would have loved my job, had it not been for corporate mismanagement.

Cons

VGH has a corporate team that is driven only by money, to the great detriment of its employees and patients. It is all about getting as MANY patients in the door for surgery and getting them to pay as MUCH as possible. Every month, if our center didn't have enough "eyes" on the books to meet or exceed the expectations of the corporate office, management would bombard us with so many emails and text messages comprised of bold type, caps lock, and repetitive phrases that I lost motivation to work hard for the company. The rewards are minimal. $5 gift cards, $1 bonus checks (not kidding), and LATE commission checks are all part of the picture. Couple that with paltry raises, restricted hours, expensive benefits, and no room for advancement, and it's not hard to see why I left. If you're wondering why this review is so different from the positive ones on here, look at who wrote them. West Palm Beach is the location of the corporate office.

Private Equity Firm (Audax Capital) is a Joke

Pros

The company is the largest LASIK provider in North America.

Cons

The VGH management team cannot effectively operate the company because it is owned by Audax. Audax's failing blueprint is to impose outrageous, unattainable financial mandates without any consideration for what is strategically and operationally feasible. After the unattainable financial targets are not met, in true private equity fashion, Audax then eliminates key members of the executive team. Within the past 60 days, Audax eliminated the CFO (with VGH one year) and forced the CEO to step down (with VGH 18 years). Of course this won't change anything; but rather, perpetuate a revolving door at all levels of management.

Pros

Autonomous work environment Freedom to express creativity in leadership styles Great pay Room for growth Excellent upper management You’ll actually meet your ceo at some point Great training process Fantastic team High levels of development from direct higher up

Cons

You get out what you put into it (not necessarily a bad thing) but sometimes reaching high goals can be challenging while missing them is discouraging. But i guess that’s what makes you get up and try again!
