Pros

Unlimited PTO, fun/energetic/smart coworkers, bi-annual retreats, constant market updates, great industry, and good coaching.

Cons

They hired me from within for the position, so they paid me 25% less than everyone else on my team, who came from outside the company, regardless of years of experience in the industry or in outside sales. I was the #1 person on my team for sales, so after discovering the pay gap, I asked for the deficit to be rectified and the feedback I got when my manager asked the CRO was, I quote, "he is honestly pissed that you even asked" and "you already make quite a bit of money for your age", among other things. I insisted that he ask again and no effort was made at all by the company, so I left. After sending in my resignation saying how grateful I was for all the professional development, both my manager and the CRO kept saying basically that we're not friends anymore and we won't be in touch with you because I went to a competitor. They now reach out to me 3 times a year asking if I want to return. Given the blatant disrespect, I would never return to the company, which is sad because I really enjoyed my time there before that.

Pros

very enjoyable coworkers remote and open for you to work while traveling over seas

Cons

I would not take a role here unless you have no other offers. Management (middle and upper) does not care about growth and development, they want to take advantage of your network/labor and has no interest in developing you as a professional. Even then, your goal post constantly shifts and it’s can get very political here. They only care about your input/ideas/contribution if it already aligns with what they’re thinking. Too much non-business-related people pleasing is happening between middle and upper management and it all comes at the expense of everyone else. You will never get rated well during a review. They want to operate “lean” but it just leads to people quitting and nothing ever gets done because they’re constantly cycling through employees. people are considered “tenured” if they’ve been here for a year or two. They have/threatened/are suing employees. I have no idea how they plan on sustaining their business as they consistently miss sales/realized revenue. People are so busy and things get very siloed as they don’t have the time of day to collaborate. The biggest thing is to not fall for the facade of their culture. Voltus tries to come off as a progressive, new-age, hip startup but has a very aggressive sales culture and does not care about their employees. CEO has stated his conservative views in front of the whole company (nothing wrong with that just don’t mix your personal opinions with the company that you’re heading). If you know what you’re getting into, I’m sure you’ll be okay. But if you’re looking for a lifelong career where they’ll work with you through the ups and downs of life, keep interviewing.

Pros

Gamechanger alert! Frankly, we're making a difference here! If you like to work with brilliant, highly educated, pretentious, smug, and self-important utopians who are joined together in pursuit of a passion for a "cleaner energy future" this is the place for you.

Cons

Voltus has this clean energy thing down to a science: hire young, smart, idealistic, impressible, and obedient college grads and rally them together to solve this existential energy crisis. Oops, on the way to meet the mission, the leadership team just forgot about adequate compensation, treating others with dignity, and that little item known as work-life balance. At first, this place seems amazing, It's as if you've found employee nirvana-- positivity and open arms out the wazoo, weekly Veritas all-hands, Voltus Fest, Voltan for Life.... A pattern is soon evident: constantly hire SDRs and "Sales Directors" and ride them relentlessly until they flame out. Unfortunately, this results in near-constant fear and turnover and disillusionment among coworkers. I mean, you'll have a controlled descent of 8-14 months give or take. It's unfortunate.
