Pros

If one is new to IT or looking for a job to have while looking for better job WaveCreste is great. The Abilene branch formerly know as GNS had great and caring people on the non upper management team working for them. WaveCreste is a great stepping stone.Providing work for one of WaveCreste's clients is a great stepping for getting a job in another company or possibly with one of WaveCreste's clients.

Cons

There was really no room for advancement within the company because contracts were hard to come by. One may be stuck in the same position and pay for five years or more. Even if one could move it is not likely that one would be moved due to fear of losing the position that one occupies. After my first year I received a reasonable raise however after that year the percentage drastically dropped while my responsibilities increased annually. I was told that I was doing such a great job and helping the companies achieve its goals however praise does not pay bills. The company talks a lot about training and providing a path for growth and promotion. However, they have been saying the same thing for over six years and not much has changed. From my experience salaries are generally low compared to what one would make at other companies. Many came on as QAs, Production support, Testers etc. and had starting salaries of 35k. In my experience ones salary would not grow much farther from that. Also, the company seems to pay the same to think that one salary fits all. When I was there the company would lump almost everyone on a project under the same pay range no matter if one subsection team was the team providing most of the service. For example the persons whose sole role was to open ta trouble ticket will be paid the same as one who actually uses technical skills to resolve the ticket. The company was not knowledgeable about what each group did in the project so they would just assume they all did the same work. Finally, if the company loses the contract that you happen to work on it will be time for you to look for another job.
