Pros

- An intellectually challenging startup environment that allows a lot of room for professional growth - The ability to 'test-learn-adapt'. Your colleagues are super open to experimentation and rapid learning cycles in order to find the best solution - Teams aim for cross-functional collaboration - Kind, constructive feedback is encouraged - Great mission: help people find their forever homes, that they couldn't afford with a traditional mortgage

Cons

- Compensation for top performers could be more competitive - Culture could place more emphasis on developing good people managers and on high performance. Low performers could be better motivated to succeed or more quickly be managed out. - C-Suite / senior management has historically been male dominated. Positive changes have been made since the company's founding, and of course startups have limited resources to combat entrenched diversity challenges. But the historical disparity has had some continuing impact on making people feel more or less at home in the company

Pros

- Unlimited holidays really are unlimited - Most flexible job i've had, can work from home full time, but also nice to go to the office and spend some time with the team. - Everyone is always ready to help / support under any circumstances - Exceedingly competent team leads / exec level employees - Manageable workload

Cons

- Clear favouritism for certain people who got promoted over others, who work just as hard, if not harder. - Team still dependant on 1/2 individuals - Pay could be better (salary increases just reflect the cost of living crisis) - Could benefit from some diversity

A place I feel welcome

Pros

It has been a great place for me to grow professionally but also personally. Wayhome is a place where we help people realise something they have often completely abandoned and buying a home can be life changing for our customers. I have had a lot of opportunities to influence how we do things and been supported by managers throughout. Working in a start up is a fun and exciting thing but it can't be perfect.

Cons

Due to the shifting VC markets and a switch to profitability over rapid growth two rounds of redundancies were not easy to take. We lost some great super talented colleagues and the second round could have been handled better. The switch to remote first has also been difficult to adjust too and not everyone has bought into coming into the office once a quarter which is disappointing.
