Going Downhill Fast - RTO is Ridiculous

Pros

My #1 pro for working at Web has been the work/ life flexibility, and everything else is a distant 2nd, 3rd, etc. But unfortunately that is no longer (see Cons). - Work life balance: working from home - Team: my manager and the majority of my co-workers are excellent. - Position: I very much enjoy what I actually do on a day to day basis (which is really going to be hard when I start looking for a new job). - Culture: love the DEI and inclusivity that is fostered.

Cons

RETERN TO WORK IS RIDICULOUS! I was hired during a time that we were all remote and was hired with the understanding that I would be allowed to WFH 100% of the time. Then without any warning the company decided to force all employees (within 50 miles of an office) to be in the office 3 days per week. AND we aren't even allowed to choose the days! It is a mandatory T-Th. We are a FINTECH company! I spend most of my days on Teams/ Zoom calls with our Partners who are all OUT OF STATE. This RTO policy hurts working mothers the most and sadly feels very appropriate during this current political climate. It turns employees into children who have to get permission to take a day off to stay home with a sick kid, when before no one would have even been aware because we all still got our jobs done. Additionally, they are offering NO extra compensation for the added cost to the employee, such as gas funds, car maintenance, and extra time for childcare. The KICKER in all of this is that they do not even have enough parking for everyone! We will have to park BLOCKS away and walk to the office (very safe for women- eyeroll). This policy is bad enough that I, who has been very happy working here, will be sprucing up my resume this fall.

Return to Office

Pros

I love my coworkers and the culture at the bank has been amazing up until now.

Cons

A return to office mandate was just implemented. We are being forced to go back into the office every Tuesday-Thursday for "collaboration time" with Monday & Friday being earmarked for "individual work" but most of us have more individual work than collaborative work, so over half the time being dedicated to collaboration feels excessive. Neither the desk situation or the parking situation are prepared to handle this load. Desks will be "hoteling" style even though everyone is mandated to come in every Tuesday-Thursday. So we will not even have dedicated workspaces where we can leave things/customize, and will not be guaranteed to sit in the same desk every day even though we are all going in each of these days.

Pros

Great employees. I love my coworkers.

Cons

-Forcing employees to work in the office. -Their commuting distance is 50 miles even though the average in America is 27 miles, and between 16-29 minutes. -You must find your own parking spot and your own desk every day.
