Pros

1/2 off meals at Whataburger. Literally... that’s it.

Cons

Where to begin? They preach “family” values and an “orange” life.... but this place is more like a cult. I took a position in the real estate segment... my “team” was unwelcoming... my manager was rude & cold. My coworkers were extremely unhelpful and made it obvious they didn’t want to be bothered. Every week was another “baby shower” or “birthday” where we all HAD to pitch in $ and if you didn’t go to lunch every time (sometimes 2x a week..?!) they iced you out. Upper management (directors and up) were also very clique-ish and cold. They will pick on you, call you out and generally just make you feel very awkward at team meetings. Also, You have to write your own review of yourself, list out all accomplishments for the quarter, etc to be eligible for less than a 1% raise.... L-O-L.... shouldn’t your manager be aware of your accomplishments? Shouldn’t your manager know how hard you work based on the work you produce? Why would an employee make a freaking presentation to VP and Directors of real estate on why they deserve a $0.15 raise, once a year? Get real. With that being said, movement upward in the company is very, VERY hard to come by.. even if you are more qualified than others. Everyone is miserable here. Look carefully at everyone when you walk through for your interview... I should have listened to my gut! The “family” values they preach are NOT there. They will make you feel like an outsider until they are ready to welcome you. Doesn’t matter how hard you work, or how good you are at your job. If you value yourself and your work, go elsewhere where you will be appreciated. I tried to stick it out, but when you know... you know. Once I turned in my two weeks Upper management iced me out, coworkers acted like we were friends and they were so sad (ya, right) and my direct manager and director were less than friendly. I hope this review seriously helps people on the fence about working here. My former position has already been listed again (and again!) because... who would want to stay??

Pros

Whataburger fosters a very fun environment meaning you will do kindergarten projects like arts & crafts, you will play dress up, and you will have a lot of pot lucks in the home office. Most people are nice, approachable, and willing to assist. Hours are 8 - 5, no one bothers you outside of those hours. You only work at about 30 percent capacity so you have a ton of free time to do other things while at work.

Cons

You will not be challenged mentally. If you can revert to the 1980s (routing actual Orange folders for approval) you will be successful. A lot of the people that came to San Antonio from Corpus Christi are very cliquish and provide little to no value to the company's new vision of growth. You better be in your seat at 8 AM or they will write you up depending on what department you work in. You can only have 1 hour exactly for lunch. Raises are minimal. They keep hiring yet they do not work employees to their capacity therefore you will be bored a lot at work.
