      Dedicated teams, great clients, nice work life balance

      Cons

      But from what I’ve heard since I’ve left everything has changed and for the worst. Leadership and mainly the CEO sold out like he said he wouldn’t and everything that made willowtree unique is gone and worse.

      Pros

      At the individual contributor level, my teammates have always been incredible. Great engineers, great leaders, and great people. The talent acquisition team at WT does a great job hiring talented folks who I love spending time with.

      Cons

      The first round of layoffs in March 2023 made it clear that people-over-profit was not a value of WillowTree's leaders, and every single leadership decision made since then has emphasized it further (including surprise layoffs again in Feb 2024). The company has poured an enormous amount of energy & money into evangelizing Tobias Dengel's "visionary" "genius" book while simultaneously laying off employees, cutting benefits, and generally working hard to create deeper division between IC-level workers and the senior executives' ivory towers.
