Pros
I loved the students. I was a very popular professor, and my students loved me. I wasn't easy on them. I made sure that they learned the material, and I was fair, but I treated them as adults, making them feel responsible for their own grade and their own work. They responded beautifully. My popularity was not well liked by other staff.
Cons
I was let go for being a denomination that was not liked by the higher ups. The staff and fellow teachers were told to not talk to me about it. There was no proper cause at all for my dismissal. Of all the betrayals of my life, I consider that one to be the biggest slap in the face, especially considering how hard I worked for them and how dedicated I was to my students and my job. When I asked why they were doing this, the HR department could give no reason at all.

Experience teaching at Zayed University
24 Aug 2022 - English Instructor in Abu Dhabi, Abu DhabiRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The best part of working at Zayed University was that the expat community, (colleagues), was very supportive and there was a strong sense of team work.
Cons
There was very poor communication between management and faculty/staff. Years ago, there were regular, (monthly), town hall meetings which provided a positive opportunity for management to communicate with faculty/staff and to let faculty know about decision making that was on the horizon. In my last two years of employment, (up to 2021), those meetings decreased to once a semester, and even then the interaction with faculty was almost non-existent.

Pros
ZU is an exceptional institution of higher education. I’m proud to say that I have contributed to its reputation as one of the best universities in the Middle East by establishing new programs, hiring exceptional faculty and stuff, and terminating some bad apples who don’t belong there (or anywhere else, for that matter)
Cons
Too much whining from faculty

Pros
When I joined ZU, I had the pleasure of working with some amazing and knowledgeable professors. During my tenure, I thought ZU was the best place for any aspiring academician ( how wrong was I). I met and taught some hardworking students. I feel sorry for them. They should definitely find a “real” university to study because ZU is literally an illusion.
Cons
-Every year, ZU is moving backward unfortunately. This was a vibrant place, now, it’s 1984. All the professionals have left or will be leaving soon. The only way to survive at ZU now is to do “nothing” because most hardworking people were either let go or fired for doing their job. Academia should be an environment of asking, seeking and mutual dialogues. But at ZU now, thinking is a crime. Asking is a crime. No one will stand up for you because people fear losing their job. Doesn’t matter what your job title is, you are nothing but a slave at this stage. Just listen, nod and smile. Your knowledge and experience are not valued or needed, all they want is absolute control of your mind.

Pros
Some of the students are so self motivated and awesome. Inspiring them is, or was, fulfilling.
Cons
Admin gets rid of anyone they don't like, mostly for political reasons. I did nothing wrong, but they got rid of me and told the other professors to keep quiet about it.
