Pros

-- Co-workers (foreign and Korean) were young, welcoming, and open to helping each other. Enjoyed going out at the end of the work week when it fit into our schedules. -- Admin and other staff members were always friendly, and happy to be there/see us. Apartment provided was furnished with the basics. I just needed to buy sheets and blankets on my first night in the apt. -- The kids were great, funny, and studious. We had regular Friday activities or field trips that everyone looked forward to (arboretum walks in fall, science museums, dinosaur park, kimchi making, etc.). They were fun for the foreign teachers as we got to experience cultural activities we wouldn't normally do. -- Curriculum was provided, books needed to be completed in a timely manner. Foreign teachers have control of everything done in class, so essentially, make your own lesson plan, so you can get through the course work efficiently and effectively. -- Foreign teachers have art, science, cooking (it's great), reading/writing classes. -- Always paid on time. Bills and taxes were paid for and done by admin. Overall, I loved everything about working for the I-Sponge Wolbae branch in Daegu. If you are offered a contract, I would encourage you to accept.

Cons

-- Not really a con, but the parent events had everyone on edge. Glad they only happened twice per year. -- Definitely a con, but not unmanageable, writing report cards every 2 or 3 months. When I first hired in, it used to be every month (we negotiated, and the director was willing to make it easier on us). So is this a con? not really. -- Oh, I was kind of left on my own in terms of finding a bank and a phone company when I first arrived. Ask the foreign teachers for help. But if your co-teacher is cool, they might meet up with you at the bank before class like mine did.
