      Business outlook

      Pros

Employee discount is not the worst. Double discount opportunities throughout the year. Wage is over the minimum wage and raise after a certain amount of time with the company

      Cons

Almost 90% of the time in my store, the pharmacy counter is understaffed. We either do not have enough staff or the staff that is in has not completed their training. The staff that are untrained are not getting to complete their training because of a high turnover of pharmacists. There is also a high turnover of counter staff. Management are usually no help with these issues and others, such as customer aggression towards staff. Texts outside of working hours asking questions and looking for more hours

      It’s fine

      Customer advisor
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Not much. The pay is really decent, going up to £12/hour, and discount is only worthwhile when double discount runs twice a year

      Cons

Awful working environment. I have worked in multiple Boots stores and seen this environment in many different ways. Some stores are run well if they have a good store manager but these are one in a million. Long working hours, pressure from management (and they receive huge amounts of pressure from area managers) to consistently succeed. Awful problems with shoplifting which makes your work environment feel dangerous as you’re constantly expected to watch shoplifters. Many times you are left with one member of staff on the shop floor due to budget cuts. Constantly complaining that there is no budget for payroll and that the store budget has been cut again whilst the company rakes in more and more money. ‘Published yesterday (May 28), Boots UK Limited’s annual report and financial statement revealed that the company made an operating profit of £88 million for the year ending August 31 2023.’ Being asked to take overtime shifts to be paid in lieu. I would stay far away if you have any choice in the matter
