Does DSO National Laboratories offer an employee assistance or workplace counselling program?
Pros
Respectful culture, approachable mid-management, reasonable leadership, and good employee benefits and starting salary.
Cons
Job roles are very unstructured and chaotic - you can be doing technical roles across various domains, some not in your specialisation, and given very little direction. Days, weeks, months can go by without much meaningful work. A lot of bureaucracy, admin work, almost every researcher also doubles as some secretary in some meeting group or joint study, or doubles in event management or staff welfare etc which is very distracting from your actual research goals.
Advice to Management
Need to streamline the company processes urgently.

Does DSO National Laboratories offer unlimited holiday?
Pros
Stable job. Good bosses can bring you a long way.
Cons
Limited work life balance. The 6 day work week implemented during COVID was a good example and persists till today, though some divsion has removed it(same pay for all division, yes). However, the official stance now is that sat is an official working day since end of CB, which limited time with family during wkends for those involved. It seems the company still values a lot of face time and do not trust u to do any wfh. Very traditional mindset at the senior management level to require your presence and micro-manage you, in a bid to maximize ur time at work from their POV. Even though cohorting was implemented, different division comes back at different days which can effectively cross interact people from different division. Senior management should review the 6 day work week official arragements if they want to portray themselves as a company with work-life balance (short term for project can be understood, but it has been going on for many months now with no end in sight), and align the whole company for effective cohorting, otherwise there is no point for cohorting. Might as well operate 100% mon to fri instead. Directions needs to be clear.
Advice to Management
Need to do what is preached like work life balance, and treating the whole DSO as one for alignment.
