Poor communication, however the interview was well conducted, first it was an initial call with HR then with the hiring manager for the position, both were friendly but no follow up after intervirw

I applied for the job and a week later they set up an interview with me. The interview was with their HR representative. He was very nice and the interview went smoothly. I was told at the end that they would let me know the following afternoon what the next steps were. This made me believe I would be moving forward, though they never emailed me. I followed up the following day and they said they had ended the process as they had found someone.
