I had an initial interview that seemed to go well. They emphasized punctuality being a big thing, which makes sense given the position. I was invited back to the next step, a working interview (which was actually a combination of the daycare position and a grooming assistant position). That second working interview was a nightmare. Their daycare accommodations at the location off Chicago Ave. were disturbing to say the least. Small rooms with a lot of anxious dogs. Excessive barking was not corrected. I honestly felt bad for the dogs. It was not a fun or relaxing environment for them in my opinion. As a dog owner, I would strongly advise to not bring your dogs here for services. Oh and to top things off, one of the seasoned daycare attendants apparently got a nasty looking leg bruise from playing tug with a overzealous dog (who apparently was known for their more challenging behavior there).
For the grooming assistant portion of the interview, I was initiated with an anxious and over 100+ pound fluffy dog to help bathe. I understand that this would be something that would happen on this position, but to thrust someone potentially new into this situation seemed like a joke. The groomer seemed distracted by her personal life and bathroom issues, as she left me alone with a dog for over 20 minutes while she was in the restroom the entire time and also taking phone calls intermittently. She was very unprofessional overall.
The facility seemed rundown and unclean overall- just a depressing vibe overallm Also, there was check in at the end of the working interview by any employees, NO monetary offer for the time worked (and yes, I did in fact work during this time), and no follow up from any staff post working interview. For a company that touts itself on being so employee positive, I expected much more. I would NEVER recommend this place, as a potential employee, or as a client based on my poor experience.
