      Product Manager Interview

      31 Jan 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at AirDev

      Interview

My interview process for this role at Airdev was one of the best that I have ever gone through over my last decade of working for both large corporates and small startups. Each step of the process was well thought out and organized. The turnaround time between steps was relatively quick and I was always clear on what the next step would be. I appreciated being offered the chance to ask questions before, during, and after every step in the process. The interview process wasn't easy but it was fair. Each exercise was relevant to the role I was applying for, and I could see how they could use my responses to determine if I would be a good fit for the position. In short, everything about my interview process at Airdev impressed me, and I'm very excited to join their team!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The first exercise was to answer 4 logic questions in 20 minutes with an even split between generic and role-specific questions. I found this to be a fun exercise and a chance to show my logical reasoning skills. Next was an HR screen that contained the usual questions you'd expect about your work experience. Then came the 75-minute product management exercise. I appreciated the fact that it was time-boxed so that I could just get it done without spending several more hours overthinking and tweaking the small details in my response. Finally, there was a 1-hour interview with a co-founder and a senior product manager. The interview was split into two parts - a role-playing exercise and a chance to ask each other questions. I was given some information on the exercise 2 days before the meeting so I could prepare. The exercise wasn't easy, but it was also very relevant to the experience that I will have running client meetings in the role, so I appreciated having a chance to go through it.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AirDev in Mar 2023

      Interview

It was a 4 stage interview, the last stage was a live working session. I over-thought it unfortunately and tried to solve for problems that the 'client' was not bothered with. Given that it's an agency, the right thing would have been to smile and agree.
