Received a phone call from the hiring manager following an employee referral. Had an excellent two hour conversation, which lead to an on-site full day interview. Standard fare of distributed systems questions (consensus, failure detectors, queueing & routing), graph theory, succinct data structures. Mainly focused on strong technical communication skills (speaking, demonstration). No "how many golf balls fit in a 747"-style questions. Very friendly, well-organized interview atmosphere. Multiple interviews with senior management and peers outside of team. Each interviewer had time organized to discuss what *they* did, and to discuss their backgrounds, which is refreshing versus the usual "here's my name and title, let's go" interview style. The most professional recruitment process I've encountered in terms of follow-up, honesty, and punctuality.
