I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AlphaSights (New York, NY) in Jan 2013
Interview
Phone interview with recruiter, very standard questions. Then first round of interviews with 2 other analysts in NY. One guy was enthusiastic, the other guy seemed on death's door. They both dodged the questions about what an analyst actually does.
Second round of interviews where I presented a case study that I prepared, then answered another case study from several options while 2 other analysts evaluated my answers. The analysts didn't seem to bright. The complete lack of information out on the internet about AlphaSights should have been a redflag. Regardless, after the second round with the 2 analysts, I interviewed with a senior manager. He was condescending, and asked very generic questions, dodging my continued questions about the actual work that is done by analysts.
