This company seemed like an amazing place to be. I was initially contacted by one of the founders, and we setup a time to speak on the phone. We hit it off immediately, and we had a great call and conversation. After the initial call, they wished to move me to the next phase of interviewing, so a skype call was setup with the founder and the executive management team. This is where things started to go awry... The time for the call came, and went, but no one ever initiated the session. About 15 minutes past the start time, I finally got a phone call, direct, from a C-level alone, and we talked. Again, it was a great conversation, we also hit it off, and I had a great feeling about everything. At the end of the call, I was told that a one-on-one call would be setup with another VP in the coming weeks, and then the I would be brought in for a face-to-face with the management team following that, in a few weeks time. I was contacted by someone to setup an interview, in-person, with the other VP (a bit of a surprise), but went, very early in the morning, to meet with them. When I arrived, the person who setup the meeting was not there, no one was expecting me, and no one knew what to do. Eventually, the VP and I were put together, and we met in their office. There was another person in the office, sitting at a table doing something unrelated (or so I thought). We chatted, but the were woefully unprepared with no idea what my resume had in it, what the prior conversations that had taken place were, why I was there, and why we were talking, etc.. It was a VERY short meeting, no more than 15-20 minutes, and I left expecting to hear back from them in a few days as they were down to the "short list". I never heard from them, and after a couple of e-mails inquiring as to the status, I sent one directly to the highest level person that I had interviewed with. I did get a response that I did not get the position, they chose a candidate with more experience in the industry. Fine. I do not mind that I was not chosen, but I found their lack of courtesy post-interview to be pathetic. Additionally, I've seen the updated title of the person that they hired... Lo, and behold, it was an existing employee - the person who was sitting in the other VP's office "working on some other things" while I interviewed ! The entire thing was a waste of my time so they could go through the motions of hiring someone, only to promote an internal candidate. Oh yeah, the "industry experience" ? The 6 months they had been with this company prior to his promotion... before that, their work was completely technology focused, not automotive. Not only did they drop the ball where basic human decency was concerned, but they bald-faced lied about who they did hire. I don't care if you hire me, or not, but if you waste my time with your interview games, and make me spend time and money to come see you in person, you owe me the courtesy of letting me know that I was not hired, and of the truth should you decide to tell me about who you did hire (that part being optional) at the end of the process. I'd not only stay away from this place, I'd run... far and fast.
