      Operation Manager Interview

      3 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Windsor, CT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Windsor, CT) in Jan 2020

      Interview

      1. Submitted job application/resume online 1a. Required to take 2 multiple choice questionnaires 2. Received email within 3 hours asking for phone interview 3.Scheduling was a little confusing. At first received request of time 7 days out. Received confirmation. Woke next morning to email for another time in 1 days time. Confirmed that one, but needed to ask if this replaced or was in addition to first one (replaced) 4. Had phone interview which was both informative and relatively easy given others feedback. 5. Within 2 hours received email asking for on-site interview at fulfillment center the 3 days later. 6. After confirming date/time, I received writing sample request (required for interview). You must submit within 48 hours of interview, which meant I had about 4 hours to complete to make the "deadline" 7. Onsite interview - tour, math "test", and 4 separate interviews (3 Sr. Ops Managers, 1 HR person) 1st interviewer was more concerned about her credentials (her MBA, moving here from foreign country, her abilities), took notes with little eye contact. 2nd interviewer was interactive and engaged and was both informative and professions. 3rd interviewer was the least professional, very aggressive manner, asked questions that indirectly were age related, marital/family status. The 4th interview was with a HR person who as anyone should/would expect was positive in nature.

      Difficult interview

      Interview

Assessment, written assessment, four interviews. It was a simple but lengthy process. You will interview with four different individuals, not a panel. So be prepared for a few hours spending 30-40 minutes each. Even if you nail one two or three, if one interview doesn’t go as smooth it can cause you to not get an offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Three part questions, and what did you learn? Even if your example was spot on with the situation task action and result they still want you to provide an explanation of what you would do differently. Be prepared for this question after examples for every interviewer. They want details and exact data and numbers.

      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

The interview process was professional, well-organized, and focused heavily on Amazon’s Leadership Principles. I completed multiple rounds of interviews that included behavioral questions requiring detailed examples using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) format. Interviewers were engaged, asked thoughtful follow-up questions, and seemed genuinely interested in understanding my leadership experience and decision-making process. The most challenging aspect of the process was the depth of behavioral questioning. Candidates should be prepared with specific examples related to leadership, conflict resolution, process improvement, customer focus, and delivering results. Communication throughout the process was timely, and expectations were clearly outlined. While the interview experience was demanding, it provided a fair opportunity to demonstrate skills and experience. Overall, I found the process to be thorough, professional, and reflective of the company’s high standards for leadership roles.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time you had to lead a team through a significant change. How did you gain buy-in, overcome resistance, and what was the outcome?
