      Senior Financial Analyst Interview

      28 Apr 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon

      Interview

Two separate phone interviews, following by an HR "Prep" call, and then final round consisting of 5 person virtual interview for 45 minutes each. For the initial phone interviews, these are standard interviews 30-45 minute interviews with the "Tell me About Yourself" and "Why Amazon", followed by behavioral questions. The HR "Prep" call is general HR questions and will give you some advice on how to prepare for the final round interview (most of which you can already find online & so it didn't really help me that much since I already did a bunch of research). For the 5 person virtual interview, each person are testing you on 2 separate leadership principles and will ask behavioral questions based on that principle. Most of the people that I interviewed with did not even do an intro....they just went straight to listing out behavioral questions that they had on their sheet. Some even kept asking me questions with less than 5 minutes remaining, so I didn't even get a chance to ask them any questions about the role. They will always ask to provide deeper details on the stories you ask them with follow up questions like "What would you have done differently?"...therefore make sure you can speak well on the details of the story that you provide. I felt as I was prepared well and did alot of research as there's lots of information online, however there was still sometimes where I went blank (mainly because I was worried about repeating the same stories). Overall, I felt like it was a very one-sided interview, they don't give you enough time to know you as they just read off a list of questions on a piece of paper. There are even small businesses that help you prep specifically for the Amazon interview, which goes to show you how difficult and robotic of a process this is. I'm not sure how they expect you spend this much time on an interview if you already have a full-time job. On the plus side, if you prepare and do moderately well on this interview process, this gives you good practice for any other interview with other companies that you come across.

      Interview

They asked a lot of behavioral questions and it seemed like SQL/Data Analysis was heavily required. Would definitely recommend prepping all the common behavioral question. Also its important to know the core principles of Amazon
