      Flight Attendant Interview

      13 Oct 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Sept 2013

      Interview

applied to careers.aa.com website. Did online assessment. Typical questions are asked like: are you willing to relocate? After online assessment is done they will send you email with a link to a video interview. They use harQen so you will not talk to an actual person but answers are recorded and reviewed later. Questions at the video interview may be: Why are you applying at AA? How do you feel about moving to a big city? they describe situations (passenger related) and ask you what would you do? tell me a time when you had a positive experience working in a team. if you pass the video interview they will notify you by email that you will proceed to the next step, which is the Face to face interview at Dallas Forth worth. They will call you and schedule the date. The F2F interview consists of a check in with recruiters they will give you a paper where you have to write down the anser to 1 question. In my case it was: "if you could choose a destination to fly to, where would it be and why?" after that there is a group activity where you sit at a table with other candidates (small groups) and write down random interests or things that you all have in common and things that are particular to you only (each candidate) they don't have to be work related, but can be anything from hobbies to interests or activities and things you have done in your life. You are to choose a speaker from your group. And when all groups are done they will tell all other candidates what those things are and other candidates have to guess to whom they belong. So each one of our group would present themselves and say "someone in our group loves literature, or has been to Europe for 5 years" random things like that. And the other groups are to guess who that person is. It's just a game and it prooves that you cannot guess what a person has done or what he or she is like just by looking at him/her. After that small groups are formed (6 or 7 candidates) and are brought to separate rooms where two recruiters for each group will ask each candidate questions. Questions may be: tell me briefly about yourself, what motivated you to apply to AA and what are your best qualities. Tell me a time when you did something for your community. they are only 6 or 7 questions. After that all groups go in the same room and they talk about the company. But when this happens, the recruiters are already deciding who to interview on a 1 to 1. At this point they wil call each candidate one by one. And two thing can happen. They either escort you out, which means they are not interested in hiring you or you will get a 1to1 interview, a reach test, and you will get fingerprinted for background check.
