I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amgen in Feb 2010
Interview
Two days process. In the first day I got a tour of the area and a dinner with the hiring manager and another group leader. The second day stated at 8AM and ended at 6PM. The day was filed with 30 minutes to 45 minutes succession of interviews with scientists, senior scientists, principal scientist, scientific directors, and one executive director. In between, by the middle of the day and after lunch, I gave a one hour seminar.

One scientific director ran a hypothetical experiment/process and in each step he told me what were the results and I had to respond based on that information. It was like an improvisation.

I applied online. I interviewed at Amgen (California, MD) in Oct 2024
Interview
It typically involves an initial phone screen with a recruiter, followed by interviews with the hiring manager and team members, potentially including a panel interview. The process may also include a presentation component. The interviews focus on both technical skills relevant to process development and team fit.

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Amgen (South San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2023
Interview
Received a phone screening from recruiter and notified that the hiring manager would have a video interview for me. After a couple of days, another HR or recruiter called me and ask about my expected salary range and current situation. I thought this call should be happened before we firmed up a video interview. So, I was confused since I couldn't understand which process I was in. A week later, I took interviewed with the hiring manager. The manager was a scientist and bragged that the manager was a global marketing director or something but it seemed that this person was not familiar with science at least. It was a very ambiguous interview.
