I applied online. I interviewed at AppUnite (Poznań, Greater Poland) in Nov 2025
Interview
I had one of the least organized and most disappointing interview processes of my career with this company. Although they position themselves as experts in hiring Elixir engineers quickly, the actual process was extremely slow, unclear, and inconsistent.
The hiring timeline stretched over more than a month for just three stages. I waited almost three weeks for a technical interview after being told it would be scheduled “the following week,” and my technical assignment was reviewed for more than a week and a half. During this time, communication was minimal and I was repeatedly left without clarity on next steps or timing.
The technical interview itself felt unprofessional and misaligned with the job description. Despite the role not mentioning Erlang anywhere, the interview included Erlang-specific questions that had nothing to do with the advertised requirements. Additionally, one interviewer struggled to read and articulate questions clearly, which made the experience feel even less structured and raised doubts about the competence of the interview team.
Another surprise was receiving an email mentioning responsibilities such as “validating a client’s product idea beyond an MVP,” which again was not reflected anywhere in the job description. This created the impression that different people involved in the process were not aligned on the role or expectations.
Overall, the process felt disorganized, slow, and inconsistent, and it did not reflect well on the company or its internal professionalism. Clear communication, aligned expectations, and better-prepared interviewers would significantly improve the hiring experience.
