I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2021
Interview
Unfortunately, I found the whole process to be a waste of time. I went through the whole recruiter, hiring manager and then panel w/ presentation rounds. The recruiting/ HR function was unresponsive and unorganized. When candidates are putting in a lot of time and effort, you really need to do better and reciprocate the professionalism.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Very typical behavioral questions. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Took almost 6 months and was very sloppy with many hiccups along the way. The recruiter was from an external company and was very bad at his job. There would be constant periods of no communication going on for weeks at times.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had an unhappy customer. How did you solve it.
Got contacted by the headhunter. Passed the first round. Got to the second which was not with the Sales Manager of the department I was interviewed for. The questions were mainly focused on my current processes and not my sales approach. Never got any further feedback even after contacting both of them directly.
I recently interviewed with Asana and, unfortunately, found the experience to be underwhelming. The interview process felt very scripted—each interviewer seemed to be reading questions directly off a screen, leaving little room for organic conversation or follow-up. Despite spending over three hours in one day on calls and preparing a detailed deal analysis presentation, I was not provided any feedback when they decided not to move forward.
One particularly disappointing moment was with a female leader on the emerging enterprise team who opened the call by saying she was “too busy” for the interview. From the outset, it felt like she didn’t want to be there, which made for an uncomfortable and disengaging interaction.
Overall, I’d recommend Asana re-evaluate their interview process to be more candidate-friendly. A more conversational approach, providing time for questions, and offering post-interview feedback would go a long way in creating a better experience. As it stands, I left the process feeling confused, undervalued, and disappointed.
