I made it through all the interviews. It was a positive experience. It seemed I got along with everyone. They had me on pins and needles just waiting to hear back. Finally, I was told I was picked, that I was the finalist. I just needed to come in for one more relaxed chat. Don't worry, they said, you can relax because you're picked and you don't have any competition anymore. I couldn't have been happier. I took off work, again, to go up to Austin to meet for this last chat that I was told would lead to the offer. It was such a great chat. I received positive feedback on my experience and reasons for why I was picked.
Cut to, no offer. Apparently they wanted a specific skill. A skill I was only asked about once. I found this extremely misleading and strange.
Just want to warn everyone: don't get your hopes up.
