      Communications Manager Interview

      13 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tashkent
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at BAT (Tashkent) in Jul 2024

      Interview

It took me a month and a half door-to-door to learn that they don't hire for this position anymore. The hiring manager had a standard screening call with me - nothing extraordinary except for their line was really bad and I struggled to follow them as they spoke. After that they invited me for a face-to-face interview with a function lead at their local office. I prepared for a behavioral/technical interview, but instead they chose to go through every bit of my resume and bio, at times asking intrusive personal questions. The interviewers didn't seem interested in building a proper rapport; they have also never given me a chance to touch upon my relevant skills. Contrary to other Glassdoor reviews , my interview was not engaging or smooth at all. It was very humid and sticky in the meeting room. I was then asked to do a test assignment (a short article and a ppt), which I completed to a deadline. The HR manager said they would get in touch with a feedback 'shortly'. Two weeks later, I've got an email saying the selection results would be announced 'this week' (it was midweek). Nothing had happened though. One week after, I get a short auto generated email from a job board where I applied. It said the vacancy in question was closed and that I was 'welcome to subscribe to their future job openings'. Sadly, no formal feedback or follow-up email after all those weeks.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BAT (London, England) in Jul 2013

      Interview

After applying for the position I was called and invited for interview at the offices. At the interview I met with the hiring manager and HR business partner. The information they provided about the role was descriptive and helpful in assessing my interest in the position - not only looking at the role responsibilities but also the operating environment, social aspects, and future career growth. As part of this interview I was asked a series of "tell me about a time when..." interview questions and then asked to participate in a presentation where I was provided information about a situation and formulated a 10 minute response. Following this interview I was invited for a second interview with the hiring manager and met with other senior staff. Finally, I was called by the HR business partner and offered a position and we negotiated start date etc.
