Disappointing Experience with BFX Furniture
The recruitment process consisted of an initial phone screening, followed by an online interview with the State Manager, and then an in-person interview with the local management team.
As part of the process, I was asked to prepare a presentation based on a case study brief, with clear instructions that it would be presented for no more than 15 minutes. I dedicated three days to preparing and refining my presentation.
However, on the day of the interview, I was not given the opportunity to present. Instead, I was briefly thanked for my preparation and then asked a series of questions that ran for over 30 minutes.
The feedback I received was that the company had realised the role would be better suited to someone with prior experience and who they “wouldn’t need to train for the role.”
This was surprising, as the role had been described throughout the process as something new to the company. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and disappointing. I invested significant time preparing for a task that was ultimately not utilised, and the expectations for the role appeared to shift late in the process.
