      Management Support Associate Interview

      11 Jun 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bridgewater Associates in Feb 2012

      Interview

The interview process started with a group interview (called a Blitz). The interviewers then asked us if they could record the interview as all meetings at BW are recorded. When we walked into the room the interviews told us that there were many of these positions open across the company and there was no need to look at the interview as a competition. Additionally, they shared that they would be pulling some of the people out of the room for one on one interviews after the Blitz if there were additional points they wanted clarifcation on. The interview then started with the six of us completing a case independently and then had to reach a collective decision. The interviewers then asked us to identify a weakness and asked some questions around how we were thinking about our weakness. This process took around 2 hours. After that, they called 3 people out of the room. They made it clear at this time that this did not mean that you were advancing or being cut, it was only to address open questions in case the interviewers did not get the right read. I know this is true because I was called out of the room for questions and another guy that was not called out still continued the process with me at a later point. They then took me to another room and I met with two interviewers who asked me about how I liked to talk to people and what my family life was like. After that interview they took me to another building where I met with the Hiring Manger for a specific role and left from there to catch my flight back. I heard back through my recruiter about a week later and they let me know that they wanted to fly me up again for an interview with the team. I came out a few a week or two later and met with 4 different people as well as watched some tapes on the culture. The interviews consisted of two case studies (very informal) and a life conversation around my path to this point and my future as well as some quesitons around the culture. I think this was on a Monday, and I got a follow up call two days later where they asked to a brief phone interview as a 'gut check'. Had that call on Friday of the same week. They called me back at the beginning of the following week with an offer.
