I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Bulmen Consultant Group (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2018
Interview
Originally I was ecstatic to interview for the HR internship. After a quick glance at Glassdoor I thought the company was legit and a great work environment. I called to confirm my appointment the day before my 1st interview and neither of the numbers listed are in order. (These are the two numbers at the bottom of their signature on their email).
I interviewed yesterday and knew something was off. The woman working the front desk struggled to understand me, as her English was exceptionally weak. When I asked for the bathroom pin code she didn’t know. (How can a worker not know how to enter the restroom??)
Glenn was over 25 min late for our interview. After about 5 minutes he scheduled me for a second round interview the next day (today). He told me I’d receive a confirmation email and call regarding this appointment. (Of course I didn’t get the confirmation and when I tried calling I did not get through). I still showed up today to my interview and no one is in the office. Music was blasting inside and the door was locked. 11:10 I sent an email explaining the situation and they responded with an email at 11:15 saying “Our firm tired to contact you via phone this Morning regarding you interview today at 11:00 AM. We currently had mandatory meeting with our entire firm at our clients headquarters. We do apologize, and would like
to reschedule”
1. I never got a call or voicemail
2. My cell number was listed on my resume
3. They should’ve sent me an email this morning so I didn’t have to spend 13$ on the train for nothing
4. If they had a mandatory meeting they should’ve been aware of it when scheduling the interview
It was my mistake for thinking there would actually be a second interview. Complete waste of time and money. Bulmen Consultant please respond to this comment. I would like an explanation. I’m guessing you care more about what’s posted here and your reputation than you do about returning emails or having a working phone.
Stay far far far away.

Question 1
Why won't they get back to me and explain what happened?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bulmen Consultant Group (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2018
Interview
I applied online and was contacted for an interview within a day. They asked me to come for an in-person interview which was a total waste of time. I came all the way downtown to talk with someone for 10 minutes, questions that could have been easily answered through a phone interview.
I didn't want to judge too harshly so I came back for a second round interview a week later with the CEO. This lasted about 30 minutes. The interview consisted of the CEO explaining how the company functioned and the recruitment process/retention.
He seems like a very passionate person, but gave me little information about the daily duties of the position. He kept throwing out vague business terms that didn't answer any of my questions. He also asked me how I would feel about the first 4 weeks of my work being unpaid even though this is advertised as a paid position. YOU CAN'T DO THAT. IT IS LITERALLY ILLEGAL TO PROMISE A POSITION WILL BE PAID THEN WITHHOLD PAYMENT. An internship is not legal if it is a "try out" for a job.
After the interview I was given a short questionnaire/test which I was told the CEO, partner, and HR director would review. Most of it was a quiz about the recruitment process terms, but there was a section that I asked me to review my interviewer. Obviously, no one is going to answer that honestly if they're still an applicant and it's not anonymous! I don't understand the point of that unless it was to write fake positive reviews for the company and it's CEO, but claim applicants or employees "said" these things.
Overall, I'm really disappointed with this company and it's shady processes. Don't waste your time and money even interviewing here.

Question 1
How would you feel about the first 4 weeks of this internship being unpaid?
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Bulmen Consultant Group (Chicago, IL)
Interview
First round is with the CEO. Takes about 15 min.
Second round can be in a cafe, or in the office. I had mine in the office, then filled out a short questionnaire.
Don't take this job whatever you do. If you have an internship, they'll never pay you. If you take the sales job, you'll get a pitiful check in 3 weeks, no matter how well or poorly you do. The company deliberately stays small, so the con doesn't attract too much attention. You will not get paid what you deserve, whether you do HR or sales.
