      Inside Sales Account Manager Interview

      21 Dec 2009
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Eatontown, NJ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CDW (Eatontown, NJ) in Dec 2009

      Interview

I worked for CDW for 3 years after MicroWarehouse was acquired in 2003. I was told I would be eligible to work for the company again but recently had a disappointing experience. See below! Having interviewed with a few companies already has allowed me to understand better the outcome for good or bad interviews. In the case of CDW, I can only say that the company’s new recruiting procedures are very disappointing. One of the things I didn’t understand is why would the company ask you to provide supplemental data when the main issue seemed to be eligibility to be able to work back for the company or that the pool of other applicants was just a better fit? I feel you should have looked into this first before jumping into conclusions. During the interview process I noticed that I was asked questions that perhaps were not relevant to my experience. Perhaps it was done that way because based on the base salary paid the position is indeed Entry Level. During our interview you had asked me how did I hear about the position without realizing that you were the one that contacted me based on my Monster profile and not the other way around. You also asked whether I was ok with the base salary that was discussed previously when in fact we never talked about it. Granted, I wasn’t satisfied with the $25,000 base salary, but figured I would give it a try in the hopes of being able to grow internally.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None of them as they were not for my background. All of them were for college grads trying to get an Entry Level position with the company.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CDW

      Interview

Very fast process. A recruiter reached out to me and we had a phone interview a few days later. The recruiter was very friendly and asks questions to get to know you and also gave information about the position. After that a one on one interview is scheduled that it is way more thorough. Do your homework because the questions are very specific and be prepared for "what would you do in this situation" type of questions. I took the time to prepare and it went very well. Sales manager was super friendly!

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at CDW (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2017

      Interview

I applied online and passed 20 minute assessment test online. The very next day I was contacted by the Recruiter of CDW and we scheduled a phone interview for the next day. The phone interview lasted about 40 minutes and included standard behavioral questions. The Recruiter with the name Dione was polite and helpful at certain moments. Although I was not invited for the in-person interview, the overall experience was very useful for my future employment search.
