      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I interviewed at Comstruct in Mar 2025

      Interview

The process consisted of three stages: 1. Screening Call with HR – A casual conversation about past experience and motivation. 2. Home Assignment – Implementation of an algorithm. 3. Code Review Session (which I didn’t reach). My application was rejected right after submitting the home assignment. It seems that the solution must meet very high performance expectations, despite no data being provided to assess the required scale. There was also a discrepancy between what I was told during the HR screening and what was stated in the assignment documentation. HR mentioned that I should work on it for **three days**, while the documentation instructed candidates to spend **a full week**, committing code daily. The rejection I received was very generic, without any feedback on my assignment, even though I spent several days working on it. Only after following up did I receive some additional input, but it was vague and unhelpful. Overall, it seems they are looking for someone who implements the solution exactly as they envision, without clear guidance. I wouldn’t recommend spending time on their home assignment, as they don’t seem to appreciate the effort in the end.
