I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Contentful (London, England) in Dec 2023
Interview
The interview process started with a standard recruiter screen call, nothing special - just a chat about the role and your experience, Q&A, and next steps. After that, there was a video interview with a hiring manager - a more in-depth conversation about what is expected for this role, a team overview, and going into more details about your recent experience as a CSM. During the call I heard only positive feedback from the manager and she got me excited about the role & next steps. She actually said that I should expect next steps from the recruiter. A few days later I get a system rejection email (!) without any specifics and not even written by a real person. Seriously? This was very confusing and I partly thought that might be a system error or something since I've been communicating with a recruiter for the past few weeks and was expecting this rejection to come from them. This was very unprofessional and ruined my experience.

Interview Experience: Long, Disorganized, and Ultimately a Waste of Time
I interviewed for a role at Contentful and the process dragged on for a little over two months, involving six different people in total. It started with recruiter, HR, then the hiring manager, then went silent for three weeks. When they finally resurfaced, they asked me to complete the process with three additional interviews, which took another three weeks partly because one interviewer was out sick and had to be swapped for a director.
Five out of the six people I spoke with told me directly that I'd be a great fit for the team. The final conversation with the other director seemed to go well too, but I never got clear signals either way. After all that, I received a generic rejection email saying they went with someone else.
Two months, six interviews, and consistent positive feedback along the way only to end in a form rejection is a frustrating amount of time to invest for that outcome. The lack of communication during the three-week silence and the disorganization around rescheduling made the whole thing feel like it wasn't being taken seriously on their end. I wouldn't go through this process again.

Question 1
Tell me about a process you built from scratch and provide the outcome from it.
There were four rounds of interviews. First with the recruiter, who was wonderful. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager, another CSM and finally presented in front of a senior CSM and hiring manager. Ultimately, I didn't get the job but enjoyed the process and meeting the team.
