      Furnace Operator Interview

      24 Dec 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Surgoinsville, TN
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Contour Glass (Surgoinsville, TN) in Oct 2025

      Interview

The interview had little, if anything, to do with my skill set, my previous experience or my capabilities. It was a lot of them talking about what they had done, including accomplishments as old as 10-12 years ago. It’s a very aged environment. This environment is also very big on culture, fit and tribal knowledge. When it comes to people, they want just enough of an advanced skill set to keep them moving. This will get you hired and in the door. Anything more is perceived as a threat. This could keep you from getting hired, but it will definitely keep you from getting promoted. If you want in, here, stroke egos, do not come off as a power-user of ANY technology and be willing to work crazy hours.
