They have an initial interview and main interview. The first was easy enough. The interviewer was professional, courteous and held a comfortable flow. The second conversation was held with the practice owner, the original interviewer and an additional employee. During the interview I was asked many questions about my ability and comfort level in working with the target populations of the practice. Additionally they allowed for my own questions about them as an employer, like the importance of being able to be open and upfront about my own and their concerns. Everything seemed to be running great, until near the end. They asked many of the usual questions, but were confused about how my faith may impact my practice. I had attempted to explain how I have never been a faith-based counselor, and that I do not project my beliefs upon a client. They continued to ask further questions about the impact of my beliefs on my work, citing a previous employee who had lied and counseled people against the client's gender-identity. I had clarified that I do not believe in the practices of that counselor. I left the interview feeling judged and misunderstood. I was not offered a job, with them citing that they thought I was not a good fit.
