      Material Data Specialist Interview

      11 Dec 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Orchard Park, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Curbell (Orchard Park, NY) in Oct 2021

      Interview

I submitted my resume and had a fantastic conversation with the person who contacted me. He was pleasant and easy to talk to. He agreed that it sounded like I would be a good fit for the company but admitted to me that the position I applied for was being filled that day. I asked him to keep me in mind if he saw another position that I would be a good fit for. A few weeks later, I saw a posting for a position that I was even more excited about and I called him to see if he could set me up with an interview. The manager for the position was on vacation and I had to wait 2 weeks for the interview, which was fine. Prior to the in-person interview, they asked me to fill out a “brief questionnaire.” They later referred to it as a “survey.” It ended up being a personality assessment. I felt like that was a little on the sneaky side. Why didn’t they just tell me they were having me take a personality assessment? I finally had the interview, in-person with the manager, and I felt like we really hit it off and I left the interview feeling pretty good about my prospects. I was really interested in the position and the company. I was told I would hear from them soon...but I never did. A week went by and I messaged them to see if they had any feedback for me. No response. I waited 2 more weeks. No response. The whole process was a real emotional rollercoaster for me and left me feeling pretty disappointed. I would take a stack of rejections over just one "ghosting", as I experienced from this company. It must be the most unprofessional experience I've had in an interview process in all my years as a working adult. A simple rejection email would've saved me weeks of emotional stress and suspense. I hope this isn't a regular habit of theirs and that other applicants don't suffer this aggravation. In the end, I’m sure they did me a favor. It seemed like a really unhappy work place. Very cold and unwelcoming.
