      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DataLab USA (Germantown, MD)

      Interview

The HR representative was easygoing, laidback and easy to talk to. She wanted me to speak with senior staff and so I waited 20 minutes for them to finish their meeting. As I was speaking with the senior staff members one on one, the first guy was chilled and laidback. I then spoke with the HR rep again together with one of the CEO's. The SQL test was quite intense - and they will act as though the test is not hard. The HR rep mentioned that even with a '1' (making a facial expression signaling that that was bad) they still 'managed to hire this person' - I ended up getting a 1 (awkward), and the CEO mentioned "You should take a course on SQL" - when I have already taken two courses on this. Then came the third senior staff - who was really grumpy. After he had just started speaking to me, the CEO invaded the conversation and mentioned that he needed to attend the next meeting. This set the mood for the entire rest of the interview - he was frustrated. This created a terrible impression for me. Afterwards, I received an apologetic e-mail stating that if I am still interested in working with them, she would gladly provide the company's manual to help me learn SQL. I did not reply.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The SQL test was extremely difficult for an entry-level student. They seem to be lenient as long as you demonstrate that you are willing to learn. The levels of this test will decide your candidacy for entry-level all the way up to senior-level.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at DataLab USA (Germantown, MD)

      Interview

Had 4 interviews. The first was a phone interview, they look through your resume and ask your what you favorite class was and least favorite. Second stage is the SQL test. They will ask inner join questions, selecting information from a table, some aggregate functions, etc . It really is the basics but not a lot of time so just study the basics. The third interview you talk with one person who is higher up. It is the same questions, you talk about your resume experience. The fourth interview I am assuming you meet with people who will be on your future team (all of these were online interviews for me). I passed the first three stages, but in the fourth I met the team who were not very welcoming and asked me questions that simply were difficult to answer. Not because they were technical, but because it felt like the team was essentially trying to stump you. It seemed like they cared less about my experience and more about disqualifying me when I was a qualified candidate. These were younger kids asking me the questions too which was frustrating because they may not have necessarily had the expertise to determine this decision or when they started their own positions. Sexism felt involved which is interesting because I usually never feel it. I got the rejection email later, but the process took two months after 4 interviews. If you are looking for an entry level job, this is not it.

      Interview

This is a joke. The process lasted 2+ months. I did 4 interviews and asked me to wait and wait. finally told me my master degree matched the position but bachelor didn't.
