      Senior Technical Recruiter Interview

      9 Mar 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

I was reached out to by a r4r recruiter, followed by 2 rounds of interviews with technical recruiters and a casual chat with their Director of Technical Recruiting. The first recruiter focused on hiring manager relationships, the second focused on closing and negotiations. The final conversation with their Director was a casual Q&A. I liked the conversations with the team, they were friendly and knowledgable. Here is the main reason I did not feel my experience was positive: I knew for a fact that the very specific position I was interviewing for was already filled, as the candidate who was filling it had interviewed at my current company for my team and told our team about the opportunity they were accepting. I think the candidate had given a verbal accept and DoorDash was waiting for them to officially sign while I was going through the first round of interviews. When I asked my recruiter if the position was filled already, she encouraged me to go through the interview process. As a recruiter myself, I know there are parts of the interview process that naturally have to remain opaque to candidates, but I wish there was still some other way that my time could have been salvaged as I was more passive in my search. It just felt a little icky that they were not forthcoming and encouraged me to waste my time. I tried leaving this feedback through their Greenhouse candidate survey, but the link is broken.

      Senior Technical Recruiter Interview

      20 Nov 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at DoorDash

      Interview

Doordash doesn’t seem to have their process buttoned up at all. First, when Covid hit and my company told us to prepare for layoffs, I applied for a Tech Recruiter role at Doordash, and was promptly sent a rejection email. Two weeks later, a recruiter reached out and re-engaged, which was very strange but she said that there was a hiring freeze when I applied. If there was a hiring freeze, why was there a req out? After we chatted she said she was “super excited” about my candidacy and that she’d reach out about next steps. I waited two weeks, no response, and then the third week I got a rejection email. Now, another three months later, and I’ve been contacted again. Worst candidate experience ever. As candidate experience is everything in our roles as recruiters, and considering what a bad experience I’ve had, I can only imagine how chaotic it is internally on the Doordash recruiting team and can only say that I feel like I dodged a bullet. Won’t be exploring roles at Doordash ever again. Thanks but no thanks.

      Senior Technical Recruiter Interview

      18 Nov 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Jose, CA) in Nov 2020

      Interview

The interviewer who was hiring for the role was arrogant and condescending. Granted, someone at that level is there for a reason. They didn't ask any questions; they were the last interview. Sat back in their chair (for a 45-minute scheduled interview) and said their was just there to answer my questions. They were snarky, off putting, and rude. When asked what next steps looked like, to the contrary of every other person I spoke with, rattled off round 5-6 steps after this round of ‘in person’ interview. They sound like a tyrant to work for based on a very short conversation. Reached out to by hiring manager, she handed me off to a recruiter. Spoke to for 30 mins. then had a virtual in person via Zoom with 2 more recruiters and the hiring manager. One thing was very awkward, everyone asked me if I knew what role I was interviewing for...like a test maybe? Never had that happen before.
