      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash in Nov 2016

      Interview

I applied via their website, and got a call from HR the next day to schedule an interview for the following week. The phone screen with HR was super quick, only asked why Doordash and gave more information on the role. They then had me complete an analytics test that took a good 10 hours or so to finish. The actual questions weren't hard, but there is a lot of information in the data sets they use so it takes time to thoughtfully do each analysis. A few days after sending in the analytics test, they scheduled me for two video interviews. These were the weirdest interviews I've ever been on. They didn't ask any questions about my background, work experience, strengths or weaknesses, but instead asked a lot of emotional intelligence questions to get a gauge for who I was as a person. I thought this would make the interviews easier, instead it made it really difficult to figure out what they were looking for and how they wanted me to answer. I like that they test your EQ and test how you react to different situations, however I don't think the questions they ask are the right ones, because they don't allow you to really speak to your character and strengths. This is a young company, with inexperienced interviewers and HR representatives, and I really think this shows in how they run their hiring process.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at DoorDash (Phoenix, AZ) in Oct 2015

      Interview

Phone interview. 20 minutes. Very little introduction from the GM, and no questions asked how about who you are, your background. The GM checks the resume and has the information. GM was very to the point, the GM's are highly educated (usually Ivy league) have impressive resumes so you have to prove you are analytical, sharp, decisive in your decision making, and they don't let you impress them in person with charm, charisma you have to win them over the phone in a short window.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

"We want our Dashers (drivers) to wear Door Dash shirts. Why do you think that's important? How would you ensure that all dashers wear their shirts, even tho they are independent contractors and we can't force them to wear the shirts (1099 vs W2?" Answer: Think they're looking for managerial experience, how you would manage people, and shows critical thinking and analytical thinking. "Who are the 3 clients we're serving?" Answer: Merchants, customers, clients For the interview if they ask what makes door dash different I would reference the "secret sauce" which is their logistics and engineering team that coordinates driver supply and customer demand to ensure orders get delivered in an up to the minute accurate manner. (they post delivery times to the exact minute so 46 mins for delivery not 45-50 minutes)

      Associate General Manager Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash in Nov 2016

      Interview

      1. The HR lady calls you for a basic interview to ask who you are, what is your experience, why do you want to work at DoorDash. She asked me to submit 3 essays to provide examples of times when I used data, critical thinking, and/or analytics to get a job done. 2. I passed, so they emailed me 3 csv (excel) files for an analytical test. I had 24 hours to answer a ton of questions based on the data files. You need to know IF Statements, SumIfs, Boolean terms, and Pivot Tables. 3. There were were some short answer questions too for qualitative responses. 4. I passed again, so the HR lady set me up with 3 separate video conference interviews. They don't use simply platforms like Google Hangout or Skype - they make you download Zoom 5. The first and second video interviews seemed like a joke. You are dressed in professional clothing while the interviewer is dressed in a t-shirt sitting in front of cardboard boxes, stacks of delivery packages, and a dirty wall. It almost looks like the interviewer is inside a closet. Beware of the final interview because I literally think they were just Idea Fishing! The last guy was the Director of Product Operations, and he was probably IDEA-FARMING. He kept asking me for more and more ideas for pitching to restaurant owners. I provided multiple ideas and then a couple days later HR called to say they're not hiring me. The whole process took 4 weeks

      Interview

I applied online and received an email from the recruiter in the following week to set up an interview. I was genuinely interested in the company and their reputation despite all the negative interview experiences I see on Glassdoor. The recruiter quickly followed-up with me after our 30 minutes conversation over the phone to move forward onto the next step. I was told to complete an analytics exercise which, took me several hours to complete. The interview process seemed pretty straightforward from there on and I was moved onto the final round on-site. This is when I started to realize that the director of product operations whom, I was interviewing at the last stage is fishing for ideas. He asked a lot of questions on improvements, and how I would pitch my sales to restaurants to increase demand. I noticed that a lot of the interviewing have been one way and not much in return on what I can learn and gain from the interviewers. Overall, terrible company and management - they only care about new ideas that they can feed off of other people and nothing else. My interview experience was awful and I could not believe that with all the time I have spent on the analytics exercise, meeting with the last two interviewers, and having my ideas being stolen I did not receive the job offer.
