      Senior Product Designer Interview

      26 Jul 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vienna
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Dynatrace (Vienna) in Jul 2024

      Interview

      1. Interview setup Application on linkedin and got a revert for interview post a month. 2. Intro call Senior product designer who works on same position, same team took the call. Nothing challenging or interesting. General questions. 2. Portfolio review Same senior product designer showed up with hiring manager for interview. I showcased one of the case studies, same domain as theirs. Not many questions. 3. Relocation round This one is of the helpful rounds. They give you in depth information about the relocation process and package for it. 4. Task round HR sent an assignment which is to be worked upon for 7-10 days. I had 6 days to work on it. Scope of the assignment is huge. Asked to create a web & mobile based end to end medical platform for doctors & nurses. Brief also describes the company details and your role in it. They give you solution oriented feature list, doesn’t really make sense. The brief says they are looking at strategic thinking and no emphasis on high fidelity wireframes. That’s a complete lie. In the presentation they mostly skipped through process and mainly gave feedback only on wireframes. For some reason the same senior product designer was again put into this round. At this point, the process is not about finding a good designer but about finding a good partner whom she personally likes. One of the UX managers asked about my feedback on assignment but couldn’t take the feedback well when given. It didn’t seem like people had even checked my portfolio once before coming to the call. They gave majority of positive feedback in the call but when I heard back from HR, the feedback behind the back seemed completely twisted. Not only did they call the solution generic ,they even went to lengths to describe my work as ‘not at a senior level’. This is coming for a candidate of 8 years of experience with majority of experience in observability & monitoring tools. The whole task process is unfair and they themselves don’t know what exactly do they want to see. Overall the interview process took 2 months or so and in the end was a complete waste of my time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. But what do you want to do? Or how do you want to work? (asked in all rounds by the same person)
