Initially, I did a first call with one of the engineers. We discussed my experiences and how I would handle certain conflict scenarios in the workplace. Then later, I was assigned a take-home test.
However, the take-home text was strangely similar to what the core product of the company was. And I am aware that there are companies that use the interview process to get free development work out of developers. So I kindly asked them if they could change the take-home test to something that is not in the same domain as their product. Or to at least confirm in writing that they were only going to use my take-home for evaluation purposes only. They denied my request and then rejected me right after.
This experience makes me highly suspicious that they are using the interview process to get free development work out of front-end developers.
