      Financial Reporting Consultant Interview

      13 Jul 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Scottsdale, AZ
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Equity Methods (Scottsdale, AZ) in May 2016

      Interview

I was kind of a test subject for this role. They usually NEVER hire outside for their consultants (they usually promote their associates), so I was weird. First interview is a phone interview with a director of Financial Reporting. This was a "fit" interview. Are you knowledgeable about what they do, are you a go-getter, do you like working, ect. Second portion of the process was a personality quiz and critical thinking test. You either pass or you don't. The personality test is untimed and consists of matching words to what people think are important and what you think you are. Critical Thinking test is timed at 10 minutes, answer as many as you can. Wrong answers don't really hurt you, so keep moving and don't burn yourself out on a tough question. Most of them are pattern recognition. Third interview was an in-person interview with four members of the team. I met with the Chief Information Officier, Manager of Financial Reporting, Director of Financial Reporting, and Managing Director of Financial Reporting. This takes all day (from 9AM to 1PM). This is also followed up with a repeated critical thinking test in their office (to make sure it was really you who took the original test). It's the same test, just different questions. Fourth interview was another in-person interview with three members of the team. I met with the CEO, Managing Director of Financial Reporting, and a Senior Consultant. This takes all day again (9AM-1PM). No test after this one though. After this they run a thorough background check and reference check. You are asked to give them three references (all of which they call) and provide information to them online for the background check. This took a month. Overall, it was a very thorough process. If you make it through it, you are a smart cookie. However, it took about 2.5 months to go through everything, including two full-day trips to their office. This can be hard for some working professionals. They were all very nice people, but they are busy and work hard.
