I was contacted online through somewhere (probably LinkedIn) and sent over my CV. I was then called a few days later to schedule an interview. The interview was standard - general personality-based questions followed by some more technical questions.
About a week or so after the interview, I was contacted by the hiring manager to basically say that although I held the skills and education necessary to do the job, he wasn't convinced that I would grasp it quickly enough for what they were needing. He then offered me a junior role to allow me to learn under someone then take on the full role within 4-6 months. I accepted, we negotiated a start date and was told I would receive a formal contract within a few days. A few days passed and the original person I spoke to that scheduled the interview called me up out of the blue to say that they had found someone that was better suited for the role and they were rescinding the offer.
