Interview
My technical discussions were very professional. It was very neat. After technical round, they explained on team that i will be joining and nature of work for which i had no problems with it. She also told she will try to conduct HR round as well on same day . They asked me to come after lunch to have one discussion with her manager.
That manager was so unprofessional. Am Very sorry to say it. He started off by saying what are you expecting out of Fidelity. I told learning is main for me and would like to work on all cutting edge technology. He started saying we being in banking domain cant use cutting edge technology. I had high regards for fidelity. But with this kind of comments from senior manager where cutting edge technologies are not being used here, it puts down the name of company in front of candidate. There are other ways to deal with it and this was not the way.
Then he said Your profile also tells you have no patience to wait and you have done 3 -4 shifts by changing company in your 6 years which means to say u are unstable. If u don get cutting edge technology you will quit from here as well!! This is how he begun the Interview!
Then i told i am interested in research. I would like to be recognized. He s saying with project timelines you cannot do that n may have to stretch n do it. For everything he has a problem?
He then asked about salary component on how much i am getting in current Organization. i told X lakhs. He told which company u joining and package there?. I told it is Y lakhs. What is expectation? i told Z as i had communicated earlier. He is saying don't make me look like a fool in front of HR's. Don't tell salary which even managers wont get. Don't tell number which other people laughs. Considering your stability factor also into account tell a number so that i will discuss with HR. He made me feel so uncomfortable in process that i had to forcefully tell a lower salary.
I told money is not only criteria. Then he is like we will give u lower than what u r getting will u work for fidelity?
I am recruited with top companies with Oracle n all before. Never faced such situation that too in a manager round .
If they had prob with my salary let them discuss internally. By the way i am very sure Managers are not supposed to discuss anything on salary part with candidates and it is all in hands of HR to do this discussion!
Very unprofessional!
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA) in Mar 2013
Interview
Terrible, simply terrible. The people were disorganized - Not sure if they even understood what the job was about. Apparently, there was a system that was having serious performance issues and no one knew what to do. They were hiring somebody to try to figure things out.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Brief description of how performance of a system can be analyzed
