Position: Machine Learning Engineer
Interview date: February 28, 2025
Overall experience: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
Status: No response after final round
Interview Process Overview:
I went through a total of three rounds. The first two rounds (virtual) were smooth, and I received very positive feedback from the interviewers. The communication from the recruiter during this stage was clear and prompt.
The third and final round was an in-person interview with the CTO. Unfortunately, the recruiter who was coordinating the process was on leave that day and didn’t share any alternate point of contact. I faced access issues at the office, and getting help took longer than expected. This added unnecessary stress before a key interview.
Despite the hiccups, the CTO interview itself went well. After the discussion, another recruiter present at the office told me I would receive feedback “by end of the day or the next day at the latest.” It’s now been almost a month, and I haven’t received any response, not even an acknowledgment of my follow-up emails.
What could have been better:
- Sharing a backup contact or escalation path in case of unavailability
- Better candidate communication post-final round
- Even a simple rejection email would have been appreciated
Advice to future candidates:
- Confirm details (especially for in-person rounds) and double-check who your contact person is
- Don’t hesitate to ask for an alternate number or support contact in case of issues
- Be prepared for a potential lack of closure
Final Thoughts:
I started the process with high hopes and appreciated the early professionalism, but the abrupt silence after the final round left a poor impression. Candidates invest time, energy, and hope in these processes - communication is key, even if the result is a no.
