I applied online. I interviewed at Financial Markets Authority (Auckland, Auckland) in Jan 2023
Interview
Typical interview questions across firms. Normally, people get hired if relevant work experience advertised in the webite matches the need of the company. Looks a good company overall with great opportunity for learning.
I applied online. The process took 9 months. I interviewed at Financial Markets Authority (Auckland, Auckland) in Oct 2022
Interview
Applied online in February.
First interview (scheduled by FMA) the Director who was to be the core interviewer of the appointment didnt even bother to turn up
Second scheduled intervew (scheduled by FMA) the the Director cancelled.
Third interview I had to cancel due to covid (my fault there but employer really needed me at the time)
Fourth interview 40 weeks later, intelligence position i applied for many months previously was now completely different to what was required for the position.
Alas experience between parties was not an ideal at all.
Interview
I closed off the meeting as I have no desire to work for arrogant, condescending, negative persona who openly bad mouth good standing regulatory organisations, whom of which are also internationally recognised regulators of global standing and I had proudly worked for (in similar positions). In a nutshell told them to shove it as a definitively would never want to work with such persons -
it is not worth it. Thankfully made me reconsolidate the other opportunities out there and who i really am willing to work for.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Role playing type questions where you are meant to represent exactly how/what an intelligence/engineer person should do when working within the FMA (without knowing how the FMA works internally how would i know)?
Intelligence/engineering have existing general frameworks to work within, but without key internal knowledge of the FMA itself it is hard to apply a more concrete/detailed approach which would align or work
conveniently within the FMA.

Interview
Terrible experience. Didn't ask any technical questions. Negative and arrogant from the very beginning. I was wondering why we had this interview. The interviewer was very proud of a talented person who only works at a lower level in the company, thus others shouldn't get higher positions.

Question 1
Perform an elevator pitch of a data project to a senior stakeholder without knowing any background of the stakeholder(how on earth someone doesn't check LinkedIn when she/he wants to pitch).
