The interview was a fairly relaxed video call. I’d been encouraged by a recruiter who felt I’d be a strong fit for the role, although I personally wasn’t very confident about my chances.
The call was with both the Sales Director and the Company Director. However, the Company Director wasn’t on camera and was actually driving during the interview, which made it feel like he didn’t have his full attention on the conversation. The Sales Director led the discussion throughout, and when she invited him to ask any questions, he simply said, “No, you’ve covered their experience, and we’ll be in touch,” which reinforced my impression that he hadn’t been fully engaged.
My experience was more with implementing e-commerce from the ground up and it looks like they have a fairly solid system anyway looking at their website and how it's built, so I wasn't convinced I'd be a good fit and I didn't get the best vibe regarding the culture of the organisation, so I think the feeling of disinterest was mutual in the end.
I suppose I was more irritated that the director didn't take the time to rebook, since understandably it's difficult to focus on an interview and drive, but I'm sure they have a great team of developers working on the website, it would have been a pleasure to work with them.
